    In Irish baile an locha which means the "town of the lake". There is no lake there now. The old church is almost destroyed. There is a holy well to the north called "Tober Bride". Showing that St. Bridget was patroness of the parish. It means Cromleach. There are two small burial mounds one in the east and the other in the west.

    He was the son of the king of Munster, (Aodh Beanmail died 614). He went as a missionary to England and from there to France where he died (at Parish 638). There are no remains of the old church but the old
