All the old people whom I met with on coming to this parish in 1903, in talking about the hill of Ardpatrick, referred to an epidemic which occurred in old times. They were not definite as regards time but generally stated that it was far back.
They called this disease by various names, 'The yellow plague', 'The cholera', 'The Black Death'.
They were all unanimous as to the fact that people during the advent of the sickness came & made their dwellings on the hill to escape the disease.
Some attributed the marks of plots, still to be seen on the hill to these dwellers.
See in tales given by the children before this a tale referring to this plague.
