    One day as Paddy Stack & his brother Andy (the horsetrainers before referred to) were passing up through the town of Kilfinane they came under the notice of a bunch of idlers who stood outside a small public house.
    Andy was mounted on a fine chestnut thoroughbred, that stepped daintily, & occasionally careered, from side to side of the roadway. Paddy as was his wont shuffled along on the footpath some paces to the rear.
    When just opposite the group, the spirited animal gave a sudden start & skipped across to the other side of the road.
    The publican who stood among the onlookers, knowing how averse Paddy was to hearing any reflections made upon the animal of which he had charge & thinking he'd provide some fun for his patrons at Pat's expense, inquired "What's up with that horse ye have? He's awful flighty entirely!"
    "Is he now" says Pat, "How do you make that out?" as he stopped and cast a baleful look about him.
    "Of course he is", replied the publican,
