  1. In a certain farm a man, his wife and a maid lived.
    One summer day the man proposed that he himself and his wife should go for a drive and leave the maid at home.
    In front of the house there was a large field and in this field the man kept his cattle.
    The man and woman got ready for the drive and when the pony and trap were ready they set off.
    A few hours after they had gone the girl began to tidy the house and whatever look she gave out the window she saw a little man coming up the passage, and he seemed to be coming towards the door. She became very nervous so locked the door.
    The little man came up to the door and when he found it locked, he went to the field where the cattle were. He pointed his stick towards a few cattle and walked away.
    When the farmer and his wife came home, the girl told
