    in the afternoon hurling and football matches are held throughout the whole country and dances are held too.
    Sometimes Pilgrimages are held on St Patrick's Day to holy wells.
    St Patrick was the first saint who came to Ireland, there is a church in Armagh called after him "St Patrick's Church".

    There is an old Irish rhyme about St Patrick's Day:-

    "Lá le Pádraig Earraigh,
    Bíonn nead ar gach coill,
    Breac ar gach linn
    Agus Laogh i ngach cró i n Éirinn".

    "LADY DAY"
    Lady Day falls on the 25th March it is a Roman Catholic holiday. The Roman Catholics have a holiday that day and the Protestants have a holiday also.
    It is a day that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
    It is called in the Protestant Church "The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary".
