  1. The tale of Bruidheann Caortainn.
    In the time of Cormac Mac Airt who was Kind of Ireland from the year 254A.D. to 277A.D. Colgan King of Scandinavia decided to conquer this country. Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Fianna opposed him in battle. The north men were defeated and Colgan himself was slain. Colgan's son Miodac escaped and came to terms with Fionn. It was agreed that he should live amongst the Fianna and enjoy their hospitality, while paying an annual tribute from his native country. In a short time the Fianna grew jealous and objected to his presence amongst them. In order to satisfy them Fionn offered him a home and two cantreds of land in any part of Ireland that he desired.
