  1. The Giants of Knockfierna, Co. Limerick.
    The river Shannon flows about ten miles north of Shountrade school. Many years ago the giants of old were building a weir across the Shannon at a spot called Mellon Point.
    The giants drew large boulders, each weighing about fifteen or twenty tons, on their backs from Knockfierna hill, near the village of Ballingarry. The Shannon is about sixteen miles from Knockfierna.
    One day one of the giants went to Knockfierna. While he was away, the water rushed through the
