There was a woman by the name of Mrs Copse living in this locality. She was living alone in a little shop. She was a very bad scholar. She did not know how to make figures. If she wanted to add money her was for every halfpenny she put 0, for every penny two 0's and so on.
In the year 1890 there was a woman in Ballinacarriga by the name of Miss Mary Dolan. She had a shop also. She worked out a star on a shilling , star on a shilling. On one day she gave it as back change to a customer. After three years she got the shilling from the same customer.
