- The local Forge is situated in the townland of Mellon. It is built on to the dwelling house. The roof is slated the fireplace is raised two feet and contains a water trough, water being used for cooling is believed to be a cure for warts. Red hot Iron is used to stop bleeding.
The Bellows is very large and is supported on a piece of wood. It is made of wood and leather with a heavy Iron pipe and placed at the back of the fireplace and is worked by a shaft of wood connected with a chain to the under slab, the upper being left free so as to give a continual blast.
The Anvil which is square block of Iron brought to a point at one end at the other(continues on next page)
