   Most people have names for their cows, some people call them after the man they bought it from, or maybe called like, the blue heifer or the red bullock. When hunting cattle they say "how" how", and sometimes as "How an out of that," and also call the dog to hunt them like, "here shep, put 'em on". When hunting calves they say, "Suck on, Suck on" Nearly all farmers in this district have stalls for their cows except for a few who tie them with chains around their necks. When people are milking, it is good to sing, or talk to the cows as they will give more milk. Some cottiers own milk cows and when their grass is low in their plots they leave them on the roadside as there is plenty grass on the greens by the road. When they are out they have a "spancil" or "side line". These are made from an old bag or from a rope made from hay. Anybody around this district that own goats, have them spancilled and are usually on the roadside or in somebody's else's field. People that raise pigs usually send them to the factories in Limerick when they are about four months being fed. When people are calling hens they say "Chick", chuck." Ducks; "feed, feed." Geese "bady, bady". When calling turkies, "feed, feed" feed," or "chuck chuck". When people are setting hatching eggs they collect their own or buy them from some poultry breeding station, where some particular breed is reared. If there is thunder while the eggs are being hatched it is said that the chicks will die.
