  1. Spinning and weaving were carried on here in this district long ago. The people had spinning wheels in their houses for this work. When they had the tread spun they sold it around the place.

    There was a lime kiln in O'Shaugnessy's land Ballyhoman, Askeaton Co Limerick. It was working up to a couple of years ago. It was very good kiln. It was worked by a big fire.

    Basket making was carried on here long ago. They were made from sticks that could be bended in and out through each other. They made a cover for it also. These baskets are made in some places yet.

    Candle making was carried on here long ago also. They had two irons joined together the shape of a candle. These irons were filled with fat. The inside part of the iron was wetted in order the fat would not stick to it. They used sorts of cords for wicks.
