  1. About 60 years ago there was an old school here. The school was in the quay, Askeaton, it was held by Mrs. Dillon. There were people living in the house, and it is a library now. The teacher was paid by the pupils. There was no Irish in the school, there were no books used. The teacher had another school in the parish also.
    There was a night school in the village also. There was a nice lot going to it. It was a man that taught in it. In the house where I live the school was held.
    Mr. O'Brien who had one hand taught in it, after leaving this he went to Cragmore, Askeaton.
