- There is a fort in the lands of Thomas Donovan Moig, Askeaton. There is a big stone in the fort, and there was gold supposed to be hidden under the stone. Pat Donovan, who was Tom Donovan's father, got a few neighbours to help him to lift the stone, but they did not try to lift it because the night was wet. One evening Pat Donovan was driving in cows and he saw the Leipreachan with the red coat coming out from under the stone. The Leipreachan did not see Pat Donovan at the time because he sat down with a last, hammer, and boots in his hands, and he was working very hard. One of the cows stood down on the tail of the Leipreachan's coat and he got a fright, so Pat Donovan caught him in his hands and said "I'll split you open if you dont give me your gold". He told Pat to come at 12 oclock that night and to bring a crow bar. Pat came at twelve oclock and went to dig(continues on next page)
