  1. Potatoes and milk was the principal food of the people in olden times.
    They had these three times a day for breakfast, dinner and supper.
    At the time of the Famine when the potato crop failed and the people fed very poor they had to eat small turnips and salt. They had also yellow meal stirabout but even they had not enough of that and thousands died of hunger.
