  1. Once upon a time there was a woman living in Adare, Co. Limk She had a very large family and her husband was dead. She had a very poor living, she was only depending on the neighbours. When the time came to pay the rent she was not able to pay it. The Landlord gave her a notice to have it paid at such a time or leave the house. Her name was Miss Mac Namara and the Landlord's name was Mr. Ball. The woman was in great trouble not knowing what she would do with her little family, so she went to the priest and told him her story and asked him what she should do. He said go home woman and it might be easy to pay Ball on that day, so she went home still thinking what she would do. So time passed on and the sheriff gave her a notice that next day he would put her out on the road. Next day Ball was bringing out his horse and he went up on him. He was not gone far when he fell off the horse. When he was falling the horse kicked him into the stomach and killed him dead on the spot, and the next Landlord never asked her for the rent, because he feared the same thing might befall him and the woman remembered the words of the priest.
