- Hurling and Football Matches
Long ago people were great for playing hurling and football. Once Dromcollogher went to play Newcastle. This is the way they used play football. The two teams used to go half-way and then throw up the ball, and the team that would bring is home, would the winners. Dromcollogher went half way to Newcastle and Newcastle came to the half-way line, and then they threw up the ball. Dromcollogher brough it home, then Dromcollogher were the winners. There was no exact number. They used make their own hurleys out of white-thorn bushes and out of ash trees. The kind of a ball they used was a sold one.
