  1. In Spring, when the roads are fine and dry I play tops, and pitch with corks. There are two kinds of tops, flogging tops, and pegging tops. When we play flogging tops, we make two gaps, and put a top spinning in the centre. Two boys would slash at it, and whoever would score the most goals would be the winner. Pegging tops are played differently. It is how we make a ring on the ground, and put a top spinning inside in it. Other boys would peg at the spinning top with their tops, and try to split it.
