  1. About the year 1850 there lived in this locality two famous men, who performed great feats of strength in their time. The first of these men was, Patrick O'Brien of Kells Dromollohger, who jumped four feet high with two haft cwts in his hands. The second was named Denis O'Leary of Castlehision, Dromcollogher who fought two stallions at the fair of Cahirmee. This man was also attacked by his own bull. He seized the bull by the horn and cut the bull's throat with his penknife.
