  1. In the olden days there was a limekiln in one of Downey's fields. It was a Sheehy family that resided there at that time. They used put turf and column in the eye of the limekiln and light it then break the limestone and put the stones on the fire to burn. Lime was very cheap in those days, it was sold for sixpence a barrel, they sold a lot of it. There is no sign of the limekiln there now.
