  1. About seventy years ago many poor people lived in a certain part of Highmount. A disease spread amongst them and many families were wiped out altogether. An old man name Daly and his wife got it and no one would come near them. When they were dying they lay down under a tree and died. That tree is still growing to mark their death place and the remains of the house also.
