  1. Not long ago a spirit used to be seen at Barnagh who was called Sprid na Barnagh. She used to knock the cocks of hay belonging to the people of Barnagh as well as frightening the peoples horses when coming from Newcastle West. Not long ago a parish priest of Templeglantine banished her and sent her draining the sea with a bottomless thimble, Sprid na Barnagh's head is cut out on a stone at Barnagh bridge.
