  1. Buying and Selling.
    Shops were scarce in olden times, and people lived a great distance form the nearest town. Buying and selling was carried on after Mass, which is still in practice at the shops near the church. Most people buy bread and cigarettes on Sunday. Instead of money being given for goods, people often gave a horse or some animal. Labour was often given in exchange for goods. In olden times when people bought goods on credit, it was called "tick". Bout was given in making a bargain. Pedlars visited the district in olden times, but in recent times very few come. A shilling is called a bob, 6d a tanner, 1d was called a wing, and a
