    When William got up in the morning at dawn,
    He left the bedside of his dear Cailen Dan,
    He pulled up his britches and took down the bar.
    And what should he see but the shaft of his car,
    He called out to John above in the loft,
    To come down and see what was done to the shaft,
    T'is then the right tearing and swearing began,
    The peddler and pack for the peelers he ran.
