  1. There was a swift runner living in Carrickerry. His name was Brian Connors. One day himself and a number of other men had a challenge in running. When they started the race one man hit Brian Connors and he ran out of the field altogether.
    He never stopped running until he reached the barrack in Ardagh a distance of three miles in five minutes. He left Ardagh and ran to the Limerick Junction in five hours. He got into a train at the Limerick junction and he went across from Ireland to Wales in a ship. He returned home three months after.
