I walked out and before I came in, I saw a wonderful thing,
Out of the dead the live did spring,
    The nine did lie,
    And the tenth did fly.
    Riddle me that
And I am willing to die.
    Ans: A bird’s nest in a dead horse’s skull.
In green graver I do travel,
In green oak I do stand
I rode a mare that was never foaled,
and kept the bridle in my hand
    Ans: Steering a ship.
    Four feet overhead,
    Two feet underneath,
    The head of living,
    In the mouth of dead,
Ans: A man carrying a pot
