    Pat O Connell lived in Athea he was the second best runner in Ireland. He competed with some of the best runners at the races in Tralee. He won by a few inches. Michael Ahern of Athes walked from Athea to Cork and brought home with him a ferkin for butter. In olden times there was no ferkins made in Limerick but in Cork.
