Anything that excludes the air, is good for a burn. The white of a raw egg put up to a burn prevents it blistering. If you burn your finger put it before the fire, this prevents it blistering also, you can also put it into soda or starch. This eases the pain, and cures the burn. Whiting and linseed oil applied to a burn cures it. Soap and sugar applied to a burn is also good. The veil of a pig is good for a burn.
If soap and sugar are applied to a boil, it cures it. If a person gets a collie, whiskey punch, or brandy punch cures it. If pickle is put onto a sprain, it cures it. To bathe the sprain in hot water and salt is also good. Equal parts of alcohol, vinegar, turpentine, and lampoil mixed together and commonly called the "Tinkers Blister" is good for cuts and sores. If sweet oil is put into a spoon and held over a candle, and poured into your ear it cures an earache.
Olive oil is also good. A hot poultice of linseed-meal is also good for a(continues on next page)- Collector
