  1. On a little Christmas night in the year 1839, a terrible storm blew which did a lot of damage to the country. One incident which really happened in the neighbourhood of Askeaton, a window in the kitchen of a house was lifted out of its place, frame and all, and landed on the table at the opposite side, without a pane of glass been broken.
    This was called the night of the Big Wind
