    I was far o'er the sea,
    To a spot in old Ireland
    That's dear unto me.
    I roamed its green hillsides,
    And heard the birds sing,
    And the lilt of their songs
    A sweet message brings.
    Of the days of my boyhood,

    So far, far, away.

    On top of the hill,
    And the woods of the Desmonds
