  1. The Old Boreen.

    I know an old boreen.
That the cowslips used to spring in.
And hawthorn hedges, gay and green.
That the wild birds used to sing in.
    A mossy lane, wild grown.
    With flowers and fairy fingers.
With many an hour long past and gone.
    In wistful memory lingers.
    But what need anyone care.
    Because me heart is pinin.
Just for an hour of dreaming there.
Where the settin' sun is shinin'.

I know an old stone wall.
With a crown of ivy clingin'.
An' a row of ash trees wain' tall.
An' the noisy rooks an wingin'.
    A quiet, whisperin' grove.
The plack for young hearts roamin'.
