  1. Folklore - A Local Happening

This happened in the parish of Shanagolden, where the late Dr. Charles Mc Donnell was born.

He told it to my grand-father. On Christmas night his mother lit the Christmas candles on a branched candle stick. It was the custom to fill all the branches with candles but this night for some reason or another she left three or four branches vacant. She locked the room door carefully as usual and went to bed but the following morning she was amazed when she opened the door to find a candle in every branch of the candle stick. Every window was closed and no one could enter the room. She told the Parish Priest about it and he said it was a miracle.
