    People long ago got their remedies from herbs and animals.
    They used "Slanlus" for a bleeding hand, wood lice boiled was a remedy for a pain in the liver.
    They boiled the seeds of the heath for a bad stomach and they boiled heron's oil for rheumatism. Burned flour for a swollen cheek. A fasting gander for the thrush. Cold black tea was their cure for sore eyes.
