  1. It is the custom on St. Brigid’s Day for some girls to get a doll and dress it in white to represent St. Brigid. They call it the Brídeóg and they go around from house to house collecting money.
    On St. Brigid’s Eve people put a black ribbon out on the ditch. They leave it out during the night because St. Brigid comes that night and blesses it, and there’s a cure in that ribbon afterwards for sick people.
    People put straw outside the door on the night also for St. Brigid to kneel on when she comes.
