  1. There are three castles in the district of Cloyne one in Ballymacotter, one in Ard Dearg and one in Castlemary.
    The Ballymacotter castle is in very good repair and a family named Terry are living in it. The castle was built about two hundred years ago. A family of Normans occupied it for two or three years. It is in the parish of Cloyne, barony of Imokilly and in County Cork.
