  1. There are two castles in ruins which I know in this district. One is on the Castle Hill, townland of Barnabrow, parish of Cloyne, barony of Imokilly and in County Cork; and the other is in in Castlemary in townland of Cloyne, parish of Cloyne, barony of Imokilly, County Cork, also.
    The castle on the Castle Hill is derelict for years. It is said Bishop Berkely had a telescope there the Fenian times so that he could see where they were fighting around the district.
    The castle in Castlemary is a very large castle. There are a lot of cellars around it.
