    Some people never get married on Monday or Friday as they think it is unlucky. On Handsel Monday people never pay out money for they think they will be paying out money for the year and getting very little in.
    Handsel Monday is the first Monday in the year. The shopkeepers like to get money in on that day so as to get good "Handsel".
