- Ballymaloe, the townland I live in, is divided into two parts namely, Ballymaloe Mór and Ballymaloe Beag. There are sixteen houses in this district but only fourteen are at present inhabited, and there are roughly about thirty people living in it. All the houses are slated. Maurice Veale, James Doolin and Margaret Sliney are the only three over seventy and James Doolin is the only one that can talk Irish.There were four more houses there long ago. Those four are now in ruins. A good many people emigrated to America and Australia. It is not a very historical place, therefore there aren't any songs or poems about it. The people are engaged in agriculture as the land is very rich.Information received from,James Doolin.
