  1. John Dibbs in Rock Street made candles. The "Tallow" or the cow's fat was boiled and put into a mould that had five wicks. When this was taken out the candle was made. The head was then shaped on it. There was great demand for these. The people who could not afford to buy these made their own ones. Rushes were peeled and dipped in melted "Tallow." There was great light from these candles.
