  1. Basket-making was one of the crafts in this town long ago. Martin Hartnett (who) lived in Church Street. He made them of rushes which he gathered in the bogs. The rushes were thinned and stretched on a board and then they were crossed. Then the board was removed and the work was carried on until the basket was made. There was great demand for these at the fairs and markets. He also went round from door to door selling them.
