  1. As a cure for influenza half a glass of heated rum drunk quickly is regarded as an infallible cure.
A cure for thrush was a mixture of honey and borax rubbed on the sufferers mouth.
Sulphur was given to people that suffered from itch.
The old people always put a rag on a tree on the eve of Saint Brigids. The rag then became a cure for a headache. The cloth was wound around the sufferer's head.
A mixture of treacle and sulphur was also a good remedy for skin diseases.
