    The twentieth of June was the date of the year,
    When Carrig and Tracton once more did appear,
    To play at Ballygarvan, where victory was found,
    The laurel of Tracton, the blues did pull down.

    About half past three, they started to play,
    A thousand spectators had gathered that day,
    The moor and the hillside re-echoed each crash,
    Every swish of the ball, every crack of the ash,

    The play on the right wing and Dean was away,
    The hurling was splendid I now have to say,
