- Coolmore Castle stands on a little hill overlooking Drake's Pool. The famous Admiral Drake once took shelter there from the Spaniards. It is built of stone, but near the top it is of brickwork. It is square in shape and is now in bad repair. It is said that the Yeomanry used it for storing arms. Capt. Newenham is the present owner of the castle.
