- The old people of Currabinny, Co. Cork. cured a cut finger by winding a spider's web around it, and leaving it there until the finger had completely healed. The spider's web was also known as the "Irish Penance".
- The old people of Currabinny, Co. Cork had many sayings about wedding and considered certain days unlucky for marriages, and if the bride wore certain colours, they were also thought unlucky.
