    erected a large Cross, which could be visible to all ships passing in and out the harbour. Thus the place was called the Haven of the Cross or Crosshaven.

  2. Cnoch na nGabhair (Knocknagore) otherwise known as Kingsland as in years gone by the king's representative in Ireland claimed the lands and as these lands were used as common pasturages Goats were reared in hundreds for the up-keep of the peasantry - called Cnoc na nGabhair for this reason.
    Trath lí Bhán (Gab all Bay)
    It gets its name from the colour of the sand
    Poll a' caulín (Church Bay) as a girl was drowned here years ago.
    Cul Tráigh: - A place name in Fennells Bay
    Baile Bhuinne 'is Bairueach (Fennells Bay)
    During the Famine numbers came here to live on the fine periwinkles and "bairneac's".
    Gleann Ruadh: - Fountainstown - got its name from the red colour of the sand, which can be got in Mr. Hodder's field near the strand.
