  1. On the road between Raffeen and Monkstown there was an old forge. It was the only one at that time in this parish.
    The smith's name was Patsy O Leary. The forge was situated to the of Patsy's house. The forge is now a ruin, and all can be seen is the four walls the windows and the doorway. The fire place the bellows and the anvil is still to be seen. The bellows is attached to a slabe of stone which is place in front of the fire place. It is said that besides showing horses patsy also made ploughs, harrows and others farm goods. It is said that patsy was sitting on the wall one summers evening when suddenly
