  1. I lived in 16 Blarney St, Cork. Next door was a bakery and in the ground-floor of the bakery was a trap-door. In the days of the persecution in Ireland the monks lived secretly in the house that is now the bakery. When the soldiers came to look for them, the monks went through this trap-door and along the passage that led from it to the River - Lee. They then hid in the boats near the bank until the danger was past. When the soldiers went away the monks came up and locked the trap-door and lived secretly in the house for many years.
