    If a person were going on a journey and if a rat ran across his path the traveller should turn back as it was an ill-omen.

    It is held in this locality (Mourne Abbey) that pigs can see the wind.
    There is a belief in the parish of Glantare Mallow that some wise women by taking the water of the three boundaries can deprive the neighbour of milk and butter and that it was practised in this parish some years ago.
