  1. Travellers come to our house sometimes. We call them tinkers or pedlars or gypsies. Their names are unknown to us. They are mostly all of the male tribe with the exception of a few lassies and you may put it down they are the worst of the gang. They generally ask for a couple of spoons of tea and sugar for a poor sick child in the name of our father's or mothers soul.
    The men sell old tin cans and they want to know if we have any potatoes
