    The woman asked her to stay with her and the girl consented. The first day she worked very hard but after a while she grew lazy. After a couple of days she wanted to go home. As she went out through the gate a shower of pitch fell on her. She went home very dissapointed and her mother never cared for her after that, but she was very proud of her step-daughter.

  2. There is a holy well situated a little outside the town of Mitchelstown called St. Fanahan's well. The feast of the patron St. falls on the 25 of November each year and pilgrims come to pay rounds at the holy well. In former times the well was situated a Brigown at the other side of the town.
