  1. 'Soldiers' is a game played in the summer time. The 'soldiers' are plants with long stems and black heads which grow in meadows & on ditches. Each player picks an equal number of 'soldiers'. Then they toss to see who will have first crack. The player who loses the toss must hold out one of his soldiers for the other player to hit it with one of his. They carry on with the game having every second crack. The player who knocks off the most heads of his opponent's soldiers wins.
